    Abira

    Access from JR Tomakomai Station ・By Railway [JR] Time required: approx. 25 min ・By Bus Time required: approx. 45 min

    Abira is famous for the leading producers of bloodhorses in Japan, and also known as the birthplace of a factory specializing in cheese. On top of that, the high-quality brand melon called Asahi-melon is also produced here in Abira. Visitors can expect some wonderful views such as the vast rape field in early summer and the thoroughbreds at pasture.

    Atsuma is an agricultural town that produces a large number of agricultural products. Among all products, Atsuma has Japan's largest cultivated area of Haskap berry, the fruit which has been believed to have positive effects on longevity since ancient times. There are a lot of amazing foods in Atsuma such as its original brand of Sakura-rice, and Azuma Genghis Khan, a Hokkaido specialty mutton barbecue.

    The highly rated Mukawa River is considered to be one of the clearest streams in Japan. With this river crossing through the center of the town, Mukawa is also blessed with a beautiful sea and surrounded by rich forests.
